On 11 April, Howard Schultz will be speaking at Tsinghua University on “Building a Trusted and Enduring Brand in China and around the World”. For the first time in China, we will be broadcasting this live across the globe.

For Love of Country>

A celebration of the extraordinary courage, dedication, and sacrifice of this generation of American veterans on the battlefield and their equally valuable contributions on the home front.

Because so few of us now serve in the military, our men and women in uniform have become strangers to us. We stand up at athletic events to honor them, but we hardly know their true measure. Here, Starbucks CEO and longtime veterans’ advocate Howard Schultz and National Book Award finalist Rajiv Chandrasekaran of The Washington Post offer an enlightening, inspiring corrective.

Leading in Uncertain Times

Last night’s vote to leave the European Union was a historic moment for the UK and the world…….In these times, we also have a responsibility not to be bystanders, but rather, to be upstanders and to act in ways that can ease the collective anxiety inside and outside the company. Let’s do everything we can to empathize with our customers’ and one another’s concerns and aspirations.

Choosing Compassion and Courage

I write you today in the wake of yet another series of tragedies paralyzing our country… I have been searching for words to provide some comfort and assurance that this will end. But I remain at a loss.

As we try to find some sort of normalcy in our day-to-day lives amidst these tragedies, I can only hope that, as partners, we continue take care of one another and remain in pursuit of greater unity and humanity. As I have said before, let’s all strive to choose compassion and courage, not only in times of crisis, but every day.

Introducing “Upstanders,” Ordinary Citizens Making an Extraordinary Difference

At a partner forum I hosted in Los Angeles last year, a store manager courageously stood up and shared a powerful idea: “We talk about not being a bystander,” she said. “How about being an upstander?” The word upstander, she explained, has an active feel to it. “You don’t stand by for someone, you stand up for them.”

An upstander, by my definition, is simply a person who acts to make positive change.

New Ads Share the Best of the Starbucks Experience: You

At the end of each commercial, you also will see a line: Be Good to Each Other. The phrase itself may feel new, but the philosophy is not. Being good to each other is our heritage, what we have been about for decades.

Living Our Values in Uncertain Times

I write to you today with deep concern, a heavy heart and a resolute promise. Let me begin with the news that is immediately in front of us: we have all been witness to the confusion, surprise and opposition to the Executive Order that President Trump issued on Friday, effectively banning people from several predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States, including refugees fleeing wars.
